Andy Harriss – #Petrolheads

In this edition of Petrolheads

We meet the man who keep stunt drivers safe, Andy Harriss.

Andy was always a car enthusiast. After serving in the military he joined the fire service, using his knowledge of cars to become a RTA response instructor.

A lack of funds meant Andy had to stop rallying, so he decided to combine work with his hobby and set up a motorsport rescue unit. As well as working on motorsport events around the country, the unit also got work on film shoots, Top Gear in particular. He started acting as safety coordinator, as well.

When the opportunity to work on the film Rush came up, Andy grabbed it with both hands. That led to work on Fast & Furious 6, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and other films. His company continues to work in motorsport, as well.
