Ian Cook – #Petrolheads

In this edition of Petrolheads

We meet an in-demand motoring artist who paints with remote-controlled cars, Ian Cook.

Ian – a.k.a Pop Bang Colour – has become something of a cult figure in the car world over the last few years.

He trained as an artist and taught for a while. Then, essentially on a whim, he tried painting with a remote-controlled car he’d been given.

Little did Ian know that experiment would become a career. His colourful, uniquely stylised paintings, using RC cars as brushes, quickly came to the attention of the wider world and Ian soon found himself with commissions from shows, manufacturers, PR agencies and magazines.

His work even became a sort of performance art, large crowds gathering to watch him create with his RCs.

He’s now one of the most in-demand motoring artists there is, with constant performances, commissions, a huge social media following and a studio at Fargo Village in Coventry.
