Keith Helfet – #Petrolheads

In this edition of Petrolheads

We meet Jaguar XJ220 designer, Keith Helfet.

Keith initally studied mechanical engineering at university in Cape Town, South Africa, but it soon became clear that his talents lay in industrial design. Indeed, he built a new body for his Triumph Spitfire during his studies.

The project ignited a passion for car design that led him to Jaguar, where he was mentored by the marque’s founder, Sir Williams Lyons and eventually became Chief Designer.

In that role, he was responsible for the look of many Jaguar cars, but Keith is perhaps best remembered for penning the iconic Jaguar XJ220, at one time the fastest car in the world.
